# Security & Cleanup

A hacked site is stressful: host warnings, weird spam pages, Google Safe Browsing flags, customers who cannot log in. I clean infected WordPress sites, harden them against repeat attacks, and set up monitoring so you are not guessing. I also build WP Security Ninja, so security is daily work - not a side skill.

How I work with you

You need the site clean, trustworthy again, and protected without a lecture in threat-model jargon. I assess how deep the compromise goes, clean thoroughly, harden the obvious doors, and explain what happened in language you can share with your team or host.

## Who it's for

Owners of hacked, infected, or vulnerable WordPress sites who need cleanup and hardening - urgently or before the next scare.

## Problems I solve

- →Google or host warnings about the site
- →Sites with no firewall or hardening

- →Cleanup that only removed the visible spam page

## What you get

- ✓Malware removal and backdoor cleanup
- ✓WordPress hardening and firewall setup
- ✓Login protection and 2FA where appropriate
- ✓Password resets and access review
- ✓Final verification including Safe Browsing / Search Console checks

## When something feels wrong

Common signals: sudden redirects, spam posts, new admin users, defaced pages, or a host suspension. You do not need to diagnose it alone. The priority is contain, clean, harden, and verify.

After recovery, many clients move into ongoing [website maintenance](/maintenance/) so updates and monitoring do not slip again. Broader WordPress work lives under [WordPress & WooCommerce](/services/wordpress-woocommerce/).

## Cleanup from someone who builds security tools

I build [WP Security Ninja](https://wpsecurityninja.com/) with firewall, malware scanning, and login protection. That product work keeps me close to how WordPress sites actually get compromised - and what lasting hardening looks like versus a quick wipe of one file.

For a plain-language walkthrough of process and what drives cleanup cost (before you engage), see [WordPress hack cleanup: process and pricing orientation](/wordpress-hack-cleanup/).

## Calm process during a stressful event

Security incidents are emotional. I keep communication practical: what I found, what I fixed, what you should change (passwords, hosts, access), and what residual risk remains. No theatrics - just a clear path back to a trustworthy site.

## How I work

1. 1

    ### Contain and assess

I check core files, uploads, database injections, rogue admin users, and server logs to see how deep the compromise goes.

2. 2

    ### Clean thoroughly

Malware removal, backdoor cleanup, and password resets - not just deleting the obvious bad file and hoping.

3. 3

    ### Harden and monitor

Firewall, login protection, file integrity checks, and sensible update practices so the same door is not left open.

4. 4

    ### Verify recovery

Google Safe Browsing, Search Console security issues, and a final scan - so you know the site is actually clean before you breathe out.

## Common questions

How fast can you respond to a hack?+

Urgent cleanups are prioritized. Contact me with what you are seeing - host suspension, Google warning, spam pages - and I will give you a realistic timeline.

How is cleanup priced?+

By severity and complexity, not a fake flat package. WooCommerce, multi-site, missing access, and Safe Browsing flags change the estimate. The orientation page explains the drivers; I quote once I understand your situation.

Will I need a new host?+

Sometimes. If the server itself is compromised or the host is unresponsive, moving to a clean environment is safer. I will tell you straight.

Can you prevent this from happening again?+

No one can promise zero risk, but proper hardening, updates, backups, and monitoring remove most of the boring ways sites get hacked.

Do you work with WP Security Ninja on my site?+

Often yes - it is my own plugin and fits naturally into cleanup and hardening. I am not required to use it, but it is a tool I trust on real sites.

Is hiring you the same as installing WP Security Ninja?+

No. The plugin is for prevention and hardening you can run yourself. Cleanup is hands-on recovery when you are already compromised — then we harden so it does not repeat.

Will you explain what happened in plain language?+

Yes. You get a clear summary of the infection path (as far as evidence allows), what was cleaned, and the hardening steps - useful for owners, not only for developers.
